Chicksands

An operation sponsored or conducted by governmental departments or agencies in such a way as to assure secrecy or concealment. A clandestine operation differs from a covert operation in that emphasis is placed on concealment of the operation rather than on concealment of the identity of the sponsor.

Clark Air Force Base

A former Echelon surveillance station located in the Philippines which was closed down in 1997.

Clarke Belt

The part of space located about 35,786 kilometers above mean sea level in the plane of the earth's equator. Named after author Arthur C. Clarke - it is where geostationary orbits may be achieved.

Class

A family of derived types with a common parent type.

Class A IP Network

Blocks of addresses where the initial octet ranges from one through 126 (decimal) (note - zero and 127 are reserved). Each individual block is owned by a single large organization. Each block can hold over sixteen million individual hosts. Forty-five of these blocks have been assigned, with no further distribution planned.
