Cybrarian

Someone who locates, categorizes and manages information available on the internet.

Daemon

A program that does things on a regular basis without being told to do it.

Dangling Node

A webpage with no outbound links. Aka Dangling Link.

Data Compression

Storing data in a format that requires less space than usual. Compressing data is the same as packing data. Data compression enables devices to transmit the same amount of data in fewer bits, requiring less time.

Data Integrity

The state that exists when automated data is the same as that in source documents, or has been correctly computed from source data, and has not been exposed to alteration or destruction.

Data Mining

aka Online Profiling. The compilation of information about Internet users by tracking their motions through websites, recording time spent, any links they click on and other details specified, usually for marketing purposes.

Data Transfer

The total amount of outbound traffic from a website, usually measured in gigabytes.

Database

A collection of data records. Storage for downloaded or processed webpages.

Database Marketing

Targeted marketing activity based on consumer information in a database from prior activity or other web sources.

Dayparting

Adjusting advertising throughout a day, including turning ads off and on or changing prices based on target audience availability or budget constraints.

De Minimus

A legal term referring to an amount to small to be taken seriously, or in auditing - an immaterial amount.

Dead Link

A link to a page that does not exist, no longer exists or has moved.

Debt to Income Ratio

A calculation for determining a borrower's ability to repay a loan, it is the monthly long-term loan payments divided by the borrower's monthly household income.
